ABOUT BARRO
Barro was born from a love for Mexico’s vibrant traditions and a commitment to environmental impact. Inspired by my roots in Chihuahua and a lifelong passion for art and culture, I wanted to create something meaningful—a piece of Mexico that people everywhere could enjoy.On a memorable trip with my mother to Guadalajara, I witnessed artisans at work in a glassblowing workshop, and that moment deepened my appreciation for our rich cultural heritage. This passion led me to collaborate with talented Mexican artisans, creating beautiful bags and accessories from recycled plastic, each piece telling a story of creativity, resilience, and sustainability.
Barro was founded in summer 2022 when I decided to share a piece of Mexico through beautiful bags and accessories. I would lay a rebozo on the ground to display them, letting people choose their favorites. I quickly saw how much people valued the artisans' work and the vibrant colors of the bags. I also discovered that many shared my desire to reduce environmental impact by choosing sustainable, eco-friendly bags that support families in Mexico.
Barro is the Spanish word for clay, a material that has been central to Mexican craftsmanship for centuries. In our brand, it symbolizes the connection to nature, tradition, and artistry. Just as clay is molded by hand into beautiful and meaningful creations, we bring together vibrant, sustainable designs that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Mexico. Barro is more than just a name.
